CHP BC Elects A New Provincial Leader

Oct. 18, 2025 (CHP BC) — The new provincial leader of the Christian Heritage Party of BC is Christian McCay of Victoria. He was elected at the Party’s Annual General Meeting in Abbotsford on October 18.

Mr. McCay, formerly of Campbell River, BC, became politically active during the days when the controversial SOGI 123 (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) resource package was being forced into BC schools despite parental objections. At that time, he became well known in his community for organizing the public to expect parents’ voices to bring change, while also beginning to travel across BC to speak, organize meetings alongside other speakers, and consistently stand for the rights of parents and students.

He was also deeply involved with the freedom movement on Vancouver Island and in Victoria, bringing opportunity for the movement and convoy to gather at the Legislature each Saturday for speaking engagements and protests against government overreach and the destructive policies imposed during the Covid lockdowns and mandates. The result was a strong and visible presence that gave voice to many who were impacted and opposed these measures. Concerned about the possibility of another peaceful Ottawa style protest as truckers arrived from across Canada, access points to the Legislature in James Bay were blockaded for weeks to prevent further organizing there.

“My mission has never wavered,” he says. “It has been to spread the Gospel, to call believers back to their authority in Christ, to equip and inform them, and especially to protect the hearts and minds of our children so that we can make disciples that know Jesus, help our nation flourish, and expose false philosophies.”

Mr. McCay was unopposed in his campaign to become the provincial leader of CHP BC, and he ran with the endorsement of CHP National Leader, Rod Taylor of Telkwa, BC. “I am so glad to have Christian McCay stepping up to take on this leadership role at this critical time in history,” said Taylor. “Christian and I have worked well together in the past and we will continue to put truth and freedom on the ballot both provincially and federally.”

“This is a long vision,” said McCay, speaking at CHP BC’s leadership AGM in Abbotsford. “There have been times of discouragement, but we have seen progress. More and more families are saying ‘No!’ to the indoctrination going on in so many of our public schools. Homeschooling and alternative school choices are thriving as a result!”

He is charting a new course for the party. “It is time for another movement, and the Christian Heritage Party is the prophetic vessel and voice our province and country need. That is why calling believers and all Canadians to stand has become critical, so together we can defend our children, our families, and our communities against false philosophies that undermine truth and freedom.”

Ron Gray of Abbotsford, who led the federal CHP from 1995 to 2008, applauded McCay’s endorsement of biblical moral principles: “Those principles, like honesty, integrity and equality before the law, benefit all citizens regardless of their faith; they are the very foundation stones of western civilization.”

Mr. Gray continued, “When these principles are abandoned, as they have been too often in both Victoria and Ottawa, bad things happen. We need a return to core biblical principles.”

Mr. McCay, the new Leader of CHP BC, has committed himself and the party he now leads to the restoration and protection of these values and principles.
